
Ellen Ama Daaku, a leading communication member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s team, has stated that women in the party will henceforth take measures to protect themselves during elections. Her comment follows the recent violent attacks on NPP women during the Ablekuma North constituency rerun.
Speaking on Angel FM’s Morning Show with Saddick Adams on Monday, July 14, 2025, Ellen strongly condemned the incident, where several female party members were reportedly assaulted by unidentified individuals. She described the attack as both cowardly and shameful, calling for urgent action from the party and the security agencies.
“We can no longer allow this to continue. From now on, we the women in the party will protect ourselves,” she declared, suggesting that self-defense and organized security arrangements may be pursued in future elections.
She revealed how a number of NPP members who are women were assaulted in the Ablekuma North rerun election with the police looking on without any protection.
The Ablekuma North violence has triggered widespread criticism and calls for accountability, especially regarding the safety of women involved in political activities.
