This Is Wirtz’s Emotional Departure From Leverkusen..

Before relocating to Liverpool, Florian Wirtz made one last trip back to the BayArena to bid Bayer Leverkusen his final farewell.

Wirtz thanked Bayer Leverkusen fans for his “unique experience” with the club in a personal letter he posted on Instagram.

The 22-year-old created history at Leverkusen when they won the DFB Cup, finished second in the UEFA Europa League, and swept to an undefeated first Bundesliga title in 2023–2024.

Wirtz’s tenure at Leverkusen ended this summer when he joined English champions Liverpool, following the team’s tight run to ultimate champions Bayern Munich the previous season.

Wirtz shared the following on Instagram:

“Dear fans, unfortunately I wasn’t able to say goodbye to you at the last game. That’s why I’m glad I can sit here once more in the BayArena and say a few words to you.

“I still remember when I transferred here five and a half years ago as a 16-year-old kid with big dreams. I’ve had so many experiences I could never have imagined.”
