Sha’Carri Richardson’s Special Apology To Her Bae Post-Arrest

In a social media video, sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson apologized to her partner Christian Coleman for her recent arrest for domestic abuse.

Richardson claimed to have put herself in a “compromised scenario” in a video that she shared on her Instagram account on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, she apologized in writing to Coleman.

The current 100-meter world champion stated on Instagram,

“I love him & to him I can’t apologize enough,” the reigning 100-meter world champion wrote on Instagram, adding that her apology “should be just as loud” as her “actions. To Christian I love you & I am so sorry,” she wrote.

Richardson allegedly assaulted Coleman at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, leading to his arrest on July 27 on charges of fourth-degree domestic violence. She spent more than eighteen hours in custody in South Correctional Entity in Des Moines, Washington.

Days before she competed in the 100-meter event at the US championships in Eugene, Oregon, she was arrested.

Richardson stated in the video that she is engaging in “self-reflection” and that she chooses “to face everything that comes to me full on rather than run away.”

The police complaint states that a Transportation Security Administration supervisor alerted an airport officer to a fight between Richardson and her boyfriend, Coleman, the 2019 world 100-meter champion.

After watching the video tape, the officer saw Richardson grasp Coleman’s backpack with her left arm and drag it away. Then, as Coleman tried to move around Richardson, she seemed to get in her way. A wall pushed Coleman into it.

In the report’s latter sections, it said Richardson appeared to throw an item at Coleman, with the TSA indicating it may have been headphones.

The officer in the report claims that he was informed that Coleman refused to be a victim and did not wish to continue with the inquiry.

Richardson wrote that Coleman “came into my life & gave me more than a relationship but a greater understanding of unconditional love from what I’ve experienced in my past.”

She placed second at the Paris Games last summer and won the 100 at the 2023 world championships in Budapest. She also contributed to the Olympic gold in the 4×100 relay.

After testing positive for marijuana at the US Olympic trials, she was not allowed to compete in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
