Turki Alalshikh, a Saudi billionaire who, until recently, owned the Spanish club Almeria, is one of the most powerful figures in sport after hosting some of the largest boxing matches. However, he has never made any investments in English football.
Alalshikh has been approached by Championship clubs and at least one Premier League club to seek investment.
Despite having a variety of commercial interests, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority has never made an investment in English football for reasons that are only known to him.
This could soon change, though, because more Championship teams are making every effort to draw in Saudi investors in order to advance to the Premier League.

Last Friday, the Saudi investment group SMC took over ownership of the team.
