Blake Lively Ordered By U.S. Court To Surrender Private Texts With Taylor Swift

As part of the discovery process in their ongoing litigation over the movie “It Ends With Us,” U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman decided on June 18, 2025, that Blake Lively must provide Justin Baldoni’s legal team with pertinent text texts sent between her and Taylor Swift.

Swift was “fairly targeted to acquire material that would establish or disprove Lively’s harassment and retaliation accusations,” according to Lively’s legal team, who also stated that Swift was aware of workplace issues on the movie’s set.

Swift was first subpoenaed directly by Baldoni’s lawyers, but they eventually decided to use Lively to access Swift’s messages instead.

Any messages exchanged will be kept private and not made public due to a protection order.

Although Baldoni decided not to change his first countersuit, which sought $400 million against Lively and Ryan Reynolds, it was dismissed on June 9. Nevertheless, discovery, which includes access to these messages, is still ongoing.

According to Judge Liman, Lively and Swift’s private texts must be produced in absolute confidence and are pertinent to establishing or disproving allegations of harassment and retribution. Only the messages pertinent to the lawsuit will be shared; Swift is not a direct party to the case. Although Lively’s attempt to hide them was denied, privacy protections remain in place.
