Creative Arts Agency Welcomes Ivan Quashigah As New Board Chairperson

The appointment of seasoned filmmaker and media executive Mr. Ivan Quashigah as the next Board Chairperson of the Creative Arts Agency is a major step in bolstering the leadership of Ghana’s expanding creative sector.

Numerous industry participants have praised the appointment, which was made public by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture. They characterize Mr. Quashigah as a visionary who has decades of experience in media strategy, creative business, and film production.

Mr. Quashigah is most renowned for being the CEO of Farmhouse Productions, the production company behind a number of highly regarded Ghanaian movies and television shows, including as “Stryke,” “YOLO” (You Only Live Once), and “Things We Do for Love.” Generations have been impacted by his work, which has also contributed to the redefining of contemporary Ghanaian storytelling.

Mr. Quashigah is expected to lead strategic initiatives, lobby for the growth of the creative sector, and drive policy direction in his new position as Board Chairperson in order to support Ghanaian musicians, artists, filmmakers, designers, and cultural entrepreneurs.

Mr. Quashigah thanked everyone for his appointment and reiterated his dedication to developing the country’s creative sector.

Established under the Creative Arts Industry Act, 2020 (Act 1048), the Creative Arts Agency coordinates the growth, regulation, and promotion of Ghana’s creative sector. The board’s duties include counseling the government, shaping policy, and mobilizing resources for industry growth.

Mr. Quashigah’s appointment is seen as a strategic decision, especially as Ghana seeks to position itself as a cultural powerhouse on the African continent and beyond. His wealth of experience in both public and private sectors is expected to bring renewed energy to the agency.
