Double Victory for Ashesi University At The 2025 Robotics Competition

At the 2025 Ghana Robotics Competition, which took place at the University of Ghana, Legon, two student robotics teams from Ashesi University performed exceptionally well, winning top honors and demonstrating the university’s increasing leadership in engineering and technological innovation.

The teams, Autobot and Assemble, competed in the esteemed Engineers’ League Category, which included some of the nation’s most cutting-edge robotics teams from universities. Following a series of challenging rounds that included mechanical design, autonomous navigation, precise tasks, and problem-solving challenges, Team Assemble won first place and Team Autobot earned a respectable third.

In addition to their overall results, the two Ashesi teams won the coveted Best Robot Design Award, which is presented to the competition’s most technically sound and creatively designed robot. The teams were commended by the judges for their meticulous attention to detail, the effectiveness of their systems, and the smooth integration of sophisticated programming with mechanical components.

According to organisers, the 2025 edition of the competition saw a significant leap in complexity, demanding higher levels of innovation and precision from participating teams. Ashesi’s strong showing demonstrated not only technical competence but also the university’s emphasis on teamwork, critical thinking, and real-world problem solving.

Members of both teams expressed excitement and gratitude following their victories. They noted that months of preparation, testing, and collaboration played a key role in their success. Mentors and faculty from Ashesi’s Engineering Department commended the students for their dedication and highlighted the importance of such competitions in shaping future innovators.

“This achievement reflects the spirit of creativity and resilience that Ashesi strives to foster,” one faculty mentor remarked. “Our students continue to push boundaries, and their performance at this competition is further proof that they are ready to take on global engineering challenges.”

The Ghana Robotics Competition, an annual event organised to promote STEM education and technological advancement, attracts participants from universities, high schools, and emerging robotics clubs across the country. This year’s event brought together some of Ghana’s brightest young engineers, offering a platform to test their ideas and solutions in a competitive environment.

Ashesi University’s triumph adds to its growing list of achievements in robotics and engineering education. The institution has consistently invested in cutting-edge laboratories, hands-on project-based learning, and industry partnerships that prepare students for complex engineering careers.
