According to promoters, boxing greats Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Mike Tyson will officially return to the ring for a historic exhibition bout in the spring of 2026.
Although the location, date, and official fight regulations have not yet been decided, CSI Sports / Fight Sports is organizing the bout, which will pit two of the most famous boxing characters against one another.
The fight, which will match Mayweather’s technical skill and defensive prowess against Tyson’s explosive heavyweight strength, has already created a great deal of interest across the world. Both boxers are still among the sport’s most well-known figures, despite their lengthy retirements from competition: Tyson for his vicious knockouts in the late 1980s, and Mayweather for his unrivaled 50–0 record and defensive prowess.
Tyson, who will turn 59 in June 2026, most recently engaged in a contentious exhibition bout with YouTuber Jake Paul earlier this year. After the bout, which finished without a knockout, Tyson experienced mild health issues like exhaustion and flare-ups of ulcers. The former heavyweight champion said he is prepared to give fans another “unforgettable show” in spite of everything.
“Me and Floyd are from completely different generations, but we both made our mark in boxing history,” Tyson said in an interview. “This is about entertainment, legacy, and giving the fans something special.”
Floyd Mayweather Jr., 48, who has remained active through exhibition fights with various opponents across the world, says this event will be “fun but respectful.”
“Mike Tyson is one of the greatest ever, and I’ve always admired what he’s done for the sport,” Mayweather stated. “This isn’t about records — it’s about celebrating boxing. But make no mistake — I’m coming in sharp.”
Promoters have made it clear that both sportsmen will go through rigorous medical testing before the fight and that the bout will not count toward either fighter’s official record.
According to early reports, the battle will probably follow conventional exhibition procedures, which include shorter rounds, larger gloves, and no official judges’ verdict.
Pay-per-view rights are anticipated to bring in record-breaking sums, and industry insiders have speculated that Saudi Arabia, Las Vegas, and Dubai are among the leading candidates to host the event.

Both Tyson and Mayweather are expected to get multi-million dollar bonuses, according to Reuters, with Tyson’s management stating that “the offer was simply too good to turn down.” Tyson has acknowledged in the past that monetary incentives continue to be a major motivator for his involvement in exhibition events, stating:
“I’ll stop fighting when people stop paying to see me fight.”
This matchup symbolizes more than just a boxing event — it’s a generational bridge. Tyson, who dominated heavyweight boxing in the late ’80s and early ’90s, remains a symbol of raw power and redemption. Mayweather, on the other hand, represents precision, strategy, and the modern business of boxing.
Fans worldwide are already speculating about possible undercard fights, celebrity appearances, and musical performances that could turn the event into one of the most-watched sporting spectacles of 2026.
