Here’s What Happened At This Year’s Aboakyer Festival

This year’s Aboakyer Festival took place in the town of Winneba in the Central Region of Ghana. It is an important cultural event that takes place every year on the first Saturday in May.

The grand celebration that took place on Sunday, May 4 attracted a lot of people from all over the country.

This festival is a significant part of the local culture, rich in history and custom.

The name Aboakyer signifies “chasing after game or creature” in the Fante vernacular, which is spoken by people of the region.

During the festival, the two Asafo groups, Tuafo and Dantsifo, left on a hunting spree. This trip happens in a game reserve explicitly made for this reason. The objective of the hunting trip is to catch a live bushbuck.

The festival attracted a lot of people who wanted to see the rich culture of the Winneba people.

The festival also permitted the people of Winneba to display their culture and customs to the rest of Ghana and the world.

Guests to the celebration were blessed to receive traditional music, dance, and other displays.

Present at the festival were several government officials including the President of the Republic Nana Akufo-Addo, Asamoah Boateng, Afenyo-Markin and some others.
