Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has declared that party members will rally behind any individual John Dramani Mahama endorses as his successor.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM with Omanhene Kwabena Asante, Gbande stressed the unifying influence President John Mahama holds within the NDC. He explained that if Mahama leaves office and publicly supports a particular person to lead the party, the grassroots and leadership alike would have no option but to throw their weight behind that candidate.
“President Mahama has built a strong relationship with the rank and file of this party. If he tells us that he is supporting someone to lead the NDC after him, we will follow that person,” Gbande affirmed.
His remarks highlight Mahama’s towering stature in the NDC and the critical role his endorsement could play in shaping the party’s future leadership.
