More than ten years after their initial encounter, boxing greats Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather may square off again. Although the American prevailed in their first fight, Pacquiao disclosed at a press conference that he had a right shoulder injury when he started the fight.
However, ten years later, Manny Pacquiao claims that talks are underway to rematch with Floyd Mayweather, and they are talking about a date and location for a fight in early 2026.
In May 2015, the two boxing greats squared off for the unified world welterweight title in a spectacular fight that Mayweather won by unanimous decision.
With Pacquiao making a comeback to professional boxing in July of this year and Mayweather participating in exhibitions, both boxers appear unable to stay away from the ring despite having previously retired from the sport.
There’s a lot of ongoing negotiations right now, so it’s hard to plan what fight I’m going to post. I’m waiting for the final negotiation, Pacquiao said.
“I’d love to have another fight, a rematch with Floyd Mayweather. So I hope that in the negotiations, we can understand each other and we can negotiate well”, he continued.
Mario Barrios retained the WBC welterweight title by majority draw, while Pacquiao came out of retirement at the age of 46, narrowly missing recovering a title.
