NFA Launches First National Film Dialogue To Boost Industry Growth

To involve more than 350,000 Ghanaians, the National Film Authority (NFA) is holding a film dialogue. The first-of-its-kind discussion is planned for September 16, 2025, at the University of Ghana’s Cedi Conference Centre in Legon.

The National Film Authority (NFA) of Ghana launched the National Film Dialogue with the aim of uniting all parties involved in the country’s film industry, including producers, distributors, legislators, scholars, foreign partners, and filmmakers.

The Dialogue aims to address a number of enduring problems and establish a course for the future. Important areas consist of:

  • Financing: improving access to funding for film production.
  • Infrastructure: addressing the physical and institutional infrastructure needed for film production, distribution, exhibition.
  • Market access: both domestic and international markets. How to get Ghanaian films seen, distributed, monetized.
  • Digital platforms: the evolving role of streaming or digital distribution.
  • Audience engagement: strengthening connection between filmmakers and audiences, locally and abroad.

The NFA hopes that this dialogue would become a regular forum for collaboration, creativity, and accountability in Ghana’s film industry.

The NFA wants to involve at least 350,000 people, or 1% of Ghana’s population, in this process. The goal is to foster ownership by involving the public in addition to stakeholders in discussions.

The event will guarantee that opinions from all areas of the sector—not just big cities—are heard and have the power to impact results.
