Businessman and political activist Akwasi Addai Odike has raised concerns over what he describes as the unusual silence of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) regarding former Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang-Manu.
Speaking in an interview on Angel FM on Monday, December 8, Odike expressed shock that, despite various controversies surrounding procurement and expenditure within the Health Ministry during the COVID-19 period, EOCO has not invited the former minister for questioning.
Odike argued that the level of public interest in the issues connected to the ministry — particularly matters that have appeared before parliamentary committees and in media investigations — should have compelled EOCO to act by now. According to him, the failure of state institutions to follow up on such cases fuels public perception of selective justice.
“I don’t understand why EOCO has not invited Kwaku Agyemang-Manu up to today. With everything that has come up, what again are they waiting for? When it involves certain people, the institutions suddenly go quiet,” Odike stated.

He further accused Ghana’s investigative bodies of treating politically connected individuals with leniency while acting swiftly against ordinary citizens and low-level public servants.
Odike warned that if state institutions continue to ignore high-profile cases, public trust in anti-corruption agencies will continue to decline. He urged EOCO and other law-enforcement bodies to demonstrate fairness and professionalism by acting promptly on all allegations, regardless of the individuals involved.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office has not yet responded to Odike’s remarks.
