Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin ascended

October 5, 2025, marks exactly 26 years since Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin ascended the revered Ofori Panin Stool of Okyeman, one of Ghana’s most distinguished traditional thrones. The day is being observed across Okyeman with reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to the values of unity, environmental stewardship, and development that have defined his reign.

Since his enstoolment in 1999, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin has emerged as a leading advocate for sustainable development, education, and environmental conservation. His reign has been characterized by visionary leadership, cultural preservation, and social transformation within the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area and beyond.

Champion of the Environment

Long before climate change became a global concern, Osagyefo Ofori Panin had taken bold steps to promote environmental protection. Through the Okyeman Environment Foundation, he launched several initiatives aimed at afforestation, water conservation, and responsible mining practices, earning him national and international recognition as Ghana’s “Green King.”
