Akwasi Addai Odike, the founder of the United Progressive Party (UPP), has been a vocal supporter of Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum (the former education minister) as a potential leader to revitalize the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2028 elections.

Odike had publicly endorsed Adutwum earlier this year, describing him as a “generational thinker” and the “best candidate” to rescue the NPP due to his character, humility, and innovative approach—likening him to former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

He emphasized Adutwum’s potential to unite and lead the party to victory, contrasting him favorably against other aspirants.

On Monday October 6, Odike reiterated on Angel FM’s morning show that, Dr. Adutwum is the key to NPP’s transformation and labeled the other candidates as “confusionists”. He criticized the internal NPP divisions and said, the former Education Minister can help stabilizing this force.

Odike’s stance underscores broader calls for fresh leadership amid the party’s regrouping efforts.
