The 2025 edition of the Women in STEM (WiSTEM) Bootcamp has officially commenced at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), bringing together young female innovators, students, and professionals to advance their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The initiative, designed to empower women to thrive in STEM-related fields, provides participants with hands-on training, mentorship, and networking opportunities. This year’s bootcamp will focus on equipping women with practical skills in areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, coding, engineering design, data science, and sustainable innovations.
In her welcome remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST commended the organizers and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting gender inclusion in science and technology. She emphasized that creating platforms like WiSTEM helps bridge the gender gap in STEM, enabling more women to take leadership roles in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Industry leaders, academics, and policymakers are also expected to deliver keynote sessions and lead workshops throughout the program. Mentors from various STEM fields will guide participants through project-based learning, ensuring they acquire both technical expertise and soft skills essential for professional growth.
The WiSTEM Bootcamp has, over the years, become a hub for young women aspiring to break barriers in male-dominated fields, providing them with the confidence and resources to compete globally.
This year’s program, proudly supported by Stanbic Bank Ghana, is hosting 300 brilliant young women studying General Science from 30 selected Senior High Schools across Ghana. Over the course of the week, these future leaders will immerse themselves in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics under the theme: “STEM Without Limit: Empowering and Inspiring Girls Who Change the Game.”
