The eighth Ghana Career and Migration Fair (GCMF25) has been launched by the Ghanaian-European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development and its partners.
The fair’s “future of work” theme aims to educate young Ghanaians about new labor trends both domestically and internationally.
According to GSS’s 2023 report, Ghana’s youth unemployment rate is 27.2%, which is comparable to the global crisis in which over 73 million young people lack employment (ILO, 2023).
This year’s fair is about more than just jobs; it is about getting the right skills, the right support networks, and international opportunities. It is about preparing Ghanaian youth to thrive in a rapidly changing world of work.
GCMF25 will centre on four major areas shaping the future workforce: digital transformation, including ai, automation, remote work, and digital literacy; skilled labour mobility and ethical migration, promoting safe and structured pathways to jobs abroad; entrepreneurship and startups, fostering innovation and self-employment among youth as well as green jobs and the sustainable economy, aligning skills with climate-resilient sectors like renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.
The 2025 edition of the fair will feature an engaging programme of panel discussions, job and career exhibitions, startup pitch sessions, and practical workshops. These sessions will bring together Ghanaian and European government representatives, employers, training institutions, financial institutions, development agencies, and youth, including returned migrants and young entrepreneurs.
Hamidu Adakurugu, Chief Director at the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, highlighted the government’s commitment to job creation:
“We’ve pledged to create over two million dignified jobs by 2028. With 300,000 young people entering the labour market annually, creating a platform like this fair allows for meaningful interaction between jobseekers and potential employers across various sectors.”
The 2025 GCMF seeks to support the sustainable development goals, especially SDG 8: decent work and economic growth, as well as Ghana’s larger national employment policy. The fair would put Ghanaian youth in a position to take control of their careers in a globally interconnected economy by connecting skill development with actual job prospects and promoting moral migration routes.

In the upcoming months, GCMF25 will take place, with outreach and regional activities aimed at reaching young people nationwide.
Co-funded by the European Union and carried out by GIZ Ghana in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment, GCMF is the premier event of the Ghanaian-European Center, an initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
