Asanteman Declares Complete Shutdown: No Business Activity on September 18

On the 18th day of September, Manhyia Palace has ordered all businesses to close in remembrance of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the late Queen of the Asante Kingdom.

The Queen Mother’s passing will be remembered on this day.

“On that day, there will be no noise. No shop will open. All will join Asanteman to mourn, and we will bury the Queen at Breman,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, said through his linguist, at the One Week of the Queen on August 21, 2025.

“Black, not red, will be the clothing code for mourning,” he continued.
Additionally, moving outside is prohibited on that particular night.

Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III Passes On At 91

Funerals are also banned by Asantehene starting of September 2, 2025. Nobody in Asanteman is anticipated to conduct a funeral during this time.

This is to prepare for Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa, who died on August 7, 2025, to be buried.

The prohibition will be in effect till September 18.
