Ghana’s Technical Edge: Four Video Analysts For Black Stars At The 2026 World Cup

Ghana’s Sports Minister, Kofi Adams

Ghana’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Adams, has justified the decision to include four video analysts in the Black Stars’ technical setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in an interview on United Television (UTV), the Minister emphasized that modern football demands extensive use of technology and data-driven analysis, hence the need for a more comprehensive analytical team.

“Football has evolved beyond just physical training and tactics. Every match, every opponent, and even individual player tendencies must be studied in real time. Four video analysts allow us to break down not only our opponents but also our own performance from different perspectives — defensive, offensive, transitional, and set-piece situations.”

He further explained that the decision aligns with the technical recommendations of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Black Stars’ coaching staff, who believe that having a larger analysis team will enhance tactical preparation and in-game decision-making.

“At the World Cup level, you can’t rely on one or two analysts. The volume of data, footage, and opponent scouting reports is enormous. We want Ghana to be fully prepared and not handicapped by inadequate technical support,” he added.

According to the Minister, the analysts will work closely with the coaching team to provide live match insights, post-match reviews, and opponent breakdowns, ensuring that the Black Stars have every strategic advantage possible heading into the global tournament.

Ghana has already qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and preparations are underway to ensure a strong showing from the national team.
