Immigration Officer Stephen Amoah’s Murder: Third Suspect Dies

Stephen Amoah’s burned body was discovered close to Kwabenya’s Abuom Junction in Accra, Ghana

The third suspect in the murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah passed away on August 23, 2025, after a brief illness, according to confirmed reports. Kwasi Amoako, the victim’s brother, verified this information after being notified by the CID officer in charge of the investigation.

The authorities have not yet revealed the identification of the suspect. But the death happened only a few days after the suspects were introduced in court.

The development was characterized by Kwasi Amoako as a source of spiritual consolation, saying:

“Yesterday we went to court and I can confirm that the third suspect has passed on… We thank God that our brother has started seeking justice for himself.”

On July 3, 2025, Officer Amoah, 38, vanished from sight after going to Ashongman Estate to visit a friend. On July 9, his burned body was discovered close to Kwabenya’s Abuom Junction.

Numerous pieces of evidence were found by investigators that connected Bright Aweh, the main suspect, to the crimes. Bloodstains, charred carpets, camouflage cloth, blood-stained fufu pestle, and efforts at cleanup with spray paint were discovered next to Aweh’s house.

Forensic matching of DNA samples taken from the victim’s mother and son has not yet been completed.

Bright Aweh was initially charged with kidnapping and later formally charged with murder. He was remanded in custody and scheduled for court appearances on August 8 and August 22, with another date set for September 4, 2025.

Another suspect, Thomas Zigah (also known as Nii Jaase), was arraigned on August 22, with his case also adjourned to September 4.

The family remains steadfast in pursuing closure and accountability, despite this new complication.
