The Member of Parliament for Trobu constituency, Hon. Gloria Owusu, has raised serious concerns about the whereabouts of Clement Ofori Addo, a former driver who allegedly accompanied the Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF), Dr. Hannah Bissiw to various illegal mining (galamsey) sites recently.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show on Friday, July 18, Hon. Owusu suspects that there may be something “fishy” surrounding the driver’s sudden disappearance after being dismissed from his role.
“Where is your driver, Clement Ofori Addo, whom you went with to the galamsey sites?” Gloria asked, directing the question to Dr. Hannah Bissiw, who serves as the National Women’s Organizer of the NDC and the current Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund.
According to the Member of Parliament, the driver, Clement, has not been seen or heard from since his dismissal.
“From the information I’ve gathered, this driver has a tape—recordings—of the Minister,” she revealed, hinting at the possibility of sensitive or incriminating material.
Although the MP did not elaborate on the contents of the alleged suspicion, she questioned why Clement would suddenly vanish and whether his silence is being orchestrated to cover up potential wrongdoing related to illegal mining activities.
Gloria Owusu’s remarks come amid growing scrutiny of political involvement in illegal mining, which continues to pose environmental and governance challenges in Ghana.
Omanhene Slams Hannah Bissiw For Risky Visit To Galamsey Site
As of now, neither Dr. Hannah Bissiw nor her office has officially responded to the allegations or the MP’s claims regarding the missing driver and the alleged recordings.
Dr. Hannah Bissiw has previously denied any involvement in illegal mining and has on several occasions stated her support for sustainable mining practices. However, the new claims by MP Gloria Owusu may spark further political tension between the NPP and NDC, especially if Clement Ofori Addo remains unaccounted for.
