
Dr. Kwasi Amakye Boateng, a political scientist and lecturer at KNUST, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is hoping President John Mahama fails in his administration, he said on Joy Prime TV’s Prime Morning on July 21, 2025.
According to Dr. Amakye Boateng, Ghanaians are likely to support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 elections if Mahama is successful in boosting the country’s economy and bringing about improved development, which might put the NPP’s chances in jeopardy.

But the party is constantly hoping that the president would make a mistake so they may get in as well. Dr. Amakye Boateng made these comments during the NPP’s National Delegates Conference, where he was examining the political landscape and the party’s future plans in the wake of their 2024 election defeat.
