This season, Brazilian and FC Barcelona striker Raphinha set a goal for himself in terms of goals and assists. The club acknowledged the Brazilian’s exceptional season by extending his contract until 2028.
When asked what his target for the season after he extended his contract with Barcelona, he responded as follows:
“I want to score 30 goals, 15 goals and 15 assists.”
Raphinha accomplished his goal target in a fantastic way. He provided 25 assists and at least 34 goals in all competitions! That equates to 59 of the 174 goals the squad scored in the previous season.
With his most significant performance since joining FC Barcelona, Raphinha has played a key role in the team’s triumph in the 2024–25 campaign.
Raphinha’s form improved under coach Hansi Flick’s tutelage. With this accomplishment, he became the first Barcelona player to score more than 50 goals in a season since Messi, Suárez, and Neymar, the “MSN” three.
His performances were essential to Barcelona‘s La Liga victory, as he was among the finest players at setting up big chances.
In the 2025 Supercopa de España final, he was also chosen as Man of the Match for Barcelona’s 5–2 victory over Real Madrid.
Raphinha had an equally outstanding Champions League campaign. With 13 goals, including a hat-trick against Bayern Munich and significant goals in the knockout stages against Benfica, Dortmund, and Inter, he emerged as the tournament’s equal top scorer.
Raphinha considered leaving the team after a difficult time under former coach Xavi Hernández. A pivotal moment, though, was when new coach Hansi Flick showed faith in him. Raphinha credited Flick’s encouragement with helping him decide to stay, which resulted in his finest season to date.
Raphinha is now a serious contender for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, with players like Ousmane Dembélé and Mohamed Salah, thanks to his outstanding season. He has received worldwide appreciation for his important contributions to Barcelona’s domestic and European campaigns.
