
The Ministry of Sports has announced plans to appoint Kumawood actor and renowned football administrator, Yaw Dabo, as the country’s new Grassroots Football Ambassador.
The appointment, aimed at promoting football development at the community level, will see Yaw Dabo leveraging his influence in both the entertainment and sports sectors to inspire young talents across Ghana.
Speaking on the initiative, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Sports said,
“Grassroots football is the foundation of our national teams. By appointing someone like Yaw Dabo, who has a deep passion for football and a strong connection with the public, we hope to engage more young people and nurture the next generation of Ghanaian football stars.”
Yaw Dabo, widely known for his works in Kumawood films, has also served in various capacities within Ghana’s football administration. His experience in managing football clubs and community sports programs is expected to complement his new role as ambassador.
In his response to the appointment, Yaw Dabo expressed excitement about the opportunity.
“I am honored to be chosen as the Grassroots Football Ambassador. Football has always been a big part of my life, and I look forward to encouraging young people to pursue their dreams, both on and off the pitch,” he said.

The Ministry of Sports emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen grassroots football across the country, improve talent identification, and enhance the overall standard of the sport in Ghana.
