If You Have A Problem With ORAL, Going To Court Is The Best Action— Domelevo

Daniel Domelevo

Daniel Domelevo, a former Auditor General and member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, has urged those who oppose the committee and think its activities are illegal to pursue legal action in court.

Domelevo clarified in a recent interview on Joy FM that ORAL’s work is completely lawful and that the office will comply with any court ruling that prohibits their operations after presenting their case.

“We are working and being told we are operating illegally. So, if anyone thinks we are unlawful, they should go to court. If the courts rule against their operations, the office would comply. Let the court tell us, Oh, guys, you cannot even collect information when people bring it to you. If that happens, we will shut down and go,” he added.

He went on to say that they were merely gathering data voluntarily and weren’t inviting anyone.

According to him, the office is operating within the law when it comes to gathering information and sharing it with the appropriate authorities, such as the Office of the Special Prosecutor, the EOCO, or the police.

“In September 2017, the senior minister Yaw Osafo Marfo announced that foreign firms had been engaged to collect data, investigate, and even help with prosecution. Back then, it was fine. But now, a simple team collecting data is a problem. That is the hypocrisy we have in this country”, he argued.

He went on to say that they will carry on with their work until the law expressly forbids it.
