Lionel Messi Is MLS Player Of The Month For April

Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi has been named MLS Player of the Month for April due to his remarkable play after injury recovery.

The Argentina international had missed four games with a hamstring issue prior to getting back to work on April 6.

Since then, Messi, 36, has won his first MLS Player of the Month award with six goals and four assists in four games.

According to Miami coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino, he is not surprised with Messi’s form. He anticipated it.

“Messi can move everywhere on the pitch, he is the best footballer in the world and a great goalscorer. We are no longer playing so often so that is why Messi is recovering his form”, Martino said.

With 21 points in 11 games, Miami leads the Eastern Conference table and is unbeaten in four games.
