
A group from Coral Reef Africa met strategically with Ghana’s Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations to discuss ways to work together to advance digital solutions for marine conservation and environmental sustainability.
The Honourable Minister Sam Nartey George (MP) presided over the meeting, which brought together representatives from Coral Reef Africa and important Ministry officials to talk about how new technology might be used to solve ecological issues, especially in Ghana’s marine and coastal ecosystems.
Among the topics of discussion were:
• Implementing digital tools for marine ecosystem monitoring and data collection
• Strengthening local capacity through digital literacy and environmental education programs
• Promoting innovation in climate resilience and sustainable coastal development
• Exploring policy frameworks to support eco-tech partnerships
In his opening remarks, Honourable Sam George stated:
“This engagement marks a critical step in our mission to align digital innovation with sustainable development. We are committed to working with forward-thinking partners like Coral Reef Africa to deploy technology that not only drives economic growth but also safeguards our natural heritage.”
Coral Reef Africa’s Executive Director, Noel Cook, also expressed optimism about the emerging partnership:
“We are thrilled to partner with Ghana’s Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations. Our joint vision is to empower communities with smart tools and strategies that protect biodiversity while enhancing livelihoods.”

At the end of the discussion, all parties agreed to form a joint task force to develop a framework for collaboration and determine which pilot projects should be started in the upcoming months.
