According to Dennis Kwakwa, a former director of communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo achieved more in his first four years in government than President Dramani Mahama when the latter ruled Ghana some years ago.
Speaking on Neat FM’s ‘Ghana Montie’ afternoon show, Kwakwa commended Former President Nana Akufo-Addo administration’s accomplishments, especially in the fields of economic management, infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
He said this while a number of Ghanaians were applauding President Mahama for the recent cedi gain.
Kwakwa criticized social media users for praising the president and finance minister for what he considers to be an ordinary accomplishment.
“What has President Mahama done? What has the NPP never done before? During his administration, President Kuffuor did the same, if not better, with regard to the Cedi’s value in relation to the dollar”, Kwakwa said.
He also emphasized that the Akufo-Addo government’s developmental strategy revolutionized multiple sectors of the Ghanaian economy in record time, saying,
“The fact is, the better work Nana Akufo-Addo achieved in just four years, President Mahama cannot even do it in eight years.”
Kwakwa cited the president’s dedication to national development as seen by landmark initiatives including the One District One Factory (1D1F) campaign, the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, and significant road infrastructure projects.
“Ghanaians experienced real progress under Akufo-Addo, and the evidence is clear in every region. The difference between his leadership and that of Mahama is like night and day,” Kwakwa argued.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has repeatedly defended Mahama’s legacy, citing significant investments in health infrastructure, education, and energy projects during his term before the current tenure.
