WAFU B U20: Nigeria Beat Ghana To Emerge Winners, Afriyie Picks Up The Big Prize..

Ghana lost the 2024 WAFU B U20 Championship final in Togo on Wednesday, October 30 to Nigeria, the defending champions, by a score of 2-1.

When Nigeria’s forward Kparobo scored twice in the first half, the Flying Eagles won the WAFU B title and broke the hearts of the Black Satellites.

The 17-year-old Kparobo shot straight into the goal with a left-footed shot after receiving a long ball from the right flank.

After Ghana attempted to equalize, Kparobo scored once more to make it two goals against the Satellites. Three minutes after the break, Kparobo smashed the ball into the top corner for Nigeria’s second goal.

With 15 minutes remaining in regulation, Ghana scored with a brilliant header from Jerry Afriyie.

In the third-place match earlier on Wednesday, Cote d’Ivoire won the competition’s bronze medal with a 2-1 victory over Burkina Faso.

Jerry Afriyie, a forward from Ghana, won both the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Golden Boot awards for scoring five goals in five matches.

Nigeria and Ghana will represent WAFU Zone B at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa next year.
